Day 1: Arrival

Oral history, herbal medicine,
and cooking experience
Learn the rich AfroColombian history in one of the Blackest cities in the country. Learn history and sociopolitical attitudes through vibrant murals around the neighborhood.
Test your endurance with a scenic hike to the vista point of the city.​
In the evening, learn about traditional plant medicine passed down orally from the elders entrusted to carryon the practices. Learn about the importance of ingredients of traditional Colombian dishes as you prepare them.
Day 3: Marshal Arts
Salsa in the Calle
Grima is an Afro-Colombian martial and cultural art form that originated during the colonial era, developed by enslaved Africans and their descendants for self-defense and resistance against Spanish colonizers and oppressive landowners. ​
​
Grima is often associated with music, oral traditions, and community honor. The practice was historically vital for survival and played a significant role in the national struggles for independence.​
​
Every Friday night, thousands of Colombians congregate in the streets of Cali to dance salsa. It's a chance to connect with local people communicating in the universal language of dance.

Day 4: Whale Watching
Whale watching on Colombia’s Pacific coast, paired with a short ceremony honoring the ocean’s significance to ancestors and the Afro diaspora, is an experience rooted in respect, reflection, and the living rhythms of the sea.​

Day 5: Cartagena
Fly to Cartagena in the morning, and check into accommodations.​
Free time until the AfroColombian history graffiti tour.


Day 6: Palenque
San Basilio de Palenque is a historic Afro-Colombian community near Cartagena, widely recognized as the first free town founded by formerly enslaved Africans in the Americas. We will explore Palenque's living traditions, music, drumming, dance, storytelling, and the Palenquero Creole language, and world-class food of the UNESCO-recognized heritage site. known as "Africa in Colombia".
Day 7: Cartagena-Island hopping
Island hopping in Cartagena is a half-day escape through the crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches. Opitonal activities include snorkeling, swimming, and fresh seafood stops as you hop between a few of the coast’s most beautiful cays.

We will arrive at the dock around mid day. Spend the rest of the afternoon is free.

Get Informed
Is there double occupancy available?
No. The package is based on single occupancy. Each traveler will have their own room and en-suite bathroom.
Who attends ?
We get a mixture of women who are first-time travelers, experienced travelers, and solo travelers who want to try groups. While the women often range in age and background, common themes are the desire to have a safe space to unapologetically be themselves, build connections with one another, and openness to new experiences and cultures.
What time should I arrive and what time should I leave Cartagena?
Check-in is at 3:00 pm. Plan to arrive to Cali no later than 6 pm on the first day to ensure your attendance at the welcome dinner.
Check-out is at 12:00 pm the final day of the trip.

The Agoodjiè Cali/Cartagena trip is a unique, culturally immersive experience. Your accommodations will be comfortable and stylish and have regular hotel amenities. Dining options will range from high-end locations to local dining spots. Transportation will be comfortable and private.
