Our founder, Royal Williams, started her travel journey in 2010 after spending a year in Spain studying Spanish. When she returned to the US, she caught the travel bug, but many of her college friends did not have the PTO and/or money to go with her, so she started traveling alone. She became a teacher in Colombia in 2013 and used the summer vacations to backpack around the world. She went solo, stay in hostels, and even tried Couchsurfing. As an adult, she found it hard to make friends at home, but easy while traveling. Because of travel, she's found some of her most meaningful friendships. Royal started Yup, She Travels! for women who want to explore, expand their worldview and meet equally curious and dope people!​

Another inspiration for this company started during the two years she taught in public schools in the US. As a teacher, it was hard to find time off to go to the dentist or other health appointments, and the health insurance was lousy and expensive. Six years in Colombia showed how accessible quality and affordable healthcare is. Procedures that cost thousands in the states cost only a few hundred in Colombia. Having gotten braces and even cosmetic procedures in Colombia, Royal thought to combine travel and medical tourism. Since the price of a trip and procedure will often be less expensive in Colombia than in the US and since people take time off for vacation and medical procedures, why not do both?
